The MEGA2560 2012 R3 version is a new version of the MEGA series controller. The differences from the 2011 version are as follows:
1. Use the ATMEGA16U2 chip to replace the 2011 version of ATMEGA8U2. The ISP FLASH capacity is doubled to facilitate more powerful function expansion and development needs. In addition to providing the traditional USB-to-serial port function, ATMEGA16U2 allows users to program and define other functions, such as configuring the USB port as a mouse, keyboard, game joystick, camera, etc. Of course, these applications are still waiting for the Ardu team Announce the specific implementation plan.
2. The external interface adds SDA and SCL (located on the left side of AREF) based on the 2011 version. The IOREF interface can provide Shield with a voltage reference. And for future series product compatibility, consider leaving a port on the left side of IOREF.
3. The RESET circuit is improved from the 2011 version. To prevent accidental reset of RESET, the RESET circuit is more stable.
Introduction to Mega:
Mega is a microcontroller development board with ATmega2560 as the core. It has 54 groups of digital I / O input / output terminals (of which 14 groups can be used for PWM output), 16 groups of analog input terminals, and 4 groups of UART (hardware serial ports) ), Use a 16 MHz crystal oscillator. Because it has a bootloader, it can download programs directly via USB without going through other external programmers. The power supply part can choose to provide power directly from USB, or use AC-to-DC adapter and battery as external power supply.
Due to the open source code and the C language development environment using Java concepts (cross-platform), the peripheral modules and applications of Ardu have grown rapidly. Power supply design
There are two options for Mega's power supply system, USB direct power supply or external power supply. The choice of power supply will automatically switch. The external power supply can choose AC-to-DC adapter or battery. The limit voltage range of this control board is 6V ~ 12V, but if the provided voltage is less than 6V, the I / O port may not be able to provide 5V voltage, so Stable; if the supplied voltage is greater than 12V, the overvoltage protection of the voltage stabilizing device may occur, and it is more likely to damage the MEGA. Therefore, the recommended operating power supply is 6.5 ~ 12V, and the recommended power supply is 7.5V or 9V.
